Comic Con 2009

Went to comic con 2009 over the weekend and had a blast. Attended lots of cool panels, met some cool artists, checked out the downtown San Diego nightlife, and ran into some old friends.. So overall it was a very good weekend.

Dr Sketchys Drawings

This past Sunday I attended a life drawing session at Dr Stetchys for the 2nd time and I think this may be my favorite workshop. It was set up at a bar in LA called Medusas Lounge and there were multiple burlesque models to draw from. Theres nothing like spending a Sunday evening drawing hot models while tipping back a few drinks, a definite first for me. Another first for me was witnessing one of models faint and fall off the stage right in front of me! Very unexpected, thankfully she was ok but was taken to a hospital to make sure she was alright. Now I was within pretty good reaching arms distance from her, and I couldn't help but think how cool it would have been to catch and save the hot model from falling off. Alas I will never know......

Carpe Noctem Drawings

This past Saturday I attended an all night figure drawing/performance art/music event called Carpe Noctem in LA. It was certainly an interesting experience to say the least, came across some free spirted, uninhibited people. They had live experimental music playing while multiple models took part on stage and busted out some poses. At a certain point it was so dark I couldn't see what I was drawing so I checked out around 3 am. Here's some drawings that I came out with.

Had a pretty productive week of attending figure drawing workshops around LA. For the first time I had the opportunity to draw multiple models which was quite fun. It presented whole new challenges to figure drawing and I hope to do it again soon.
